Raising achievement through podcasting conference
We’d like to say a huge thank you to Learn.co.uk at the Guardian for helping arrange a fantastic half-day conference “Raising achievement through podcasting” at the Guardian offices in London on 24 April 2009 sponsored by Lightbox Education.
The event hosted a number of highly entertaining and informative speakers including Baldev Singh who spoke on the changing face of technology and the importance of using this effectively within a classroom environment. Doug Dickinson also offered a wealth of information on the benefits of podcasting within the classroom including detailed information on creating Podcasts with Podium and useful points to consider. Lots of examples of great podcasting made by schools across the country were heard by all and a few of the attendees were invited to have a go at recording a podcast themselves!
Ben Green audio producer at the Guardian spoke in depth around how podcasting is used and produced at the Guardian. Also Margaret Holborn and Emily Drabble spoke on putting podcasting into practice with some excellent advice on different ways of using podcasting in the classroom and showcasing the levels of engagement and motivation podcasting can bring children with examples along the way. A great day was had by all and we look forward to speaking around the benefits of new technologies in the classroom at future events.
